Medication compliance
An estimated half of the patients to whom medicines are prescribed do not take them correctly.
A WHO study* estimates that only 50% of patients suffering from chronic diseases in developed countries follow treatment recommendations. One of important reasons is forgetfulness, a common symptom particular with the elderly. It is a major medical problem that may lead to serious medical problems and elevated costs, both for patients and care providers.
ACARES offers an innovative medication dispenser. The pharmacist can prepare a weekly doses of medication based on the doctors prescription(s). The medication is packaged, in pouches, and can be delivered to the (home) care provider or patient directly. The pharmacist can pre-programme the medication dispenser through a secure web portal. As soon as medication needs to be taken, an alarm will sound at the patient’s home (or care home) from the dispenser. If medication is not taken within a certain time limit, the care provider will receive an alert message and can take proper action.
